WHAIA Sonic Weaver Aotearoa

Born of Ngati Kahugnunu, tribal descent, WHAIA is a transcendant vocalist, alchemical performer, First Nations Multi-instrumentalist, Designer, Creative Cultural Producer and visionary Facilitator, making this woman one powerhouse mama.

Walking with Taonga Puoro/Traditional First Nations Instruments, and Crystal Singing Bowls WHAIA weaves her own unique cradle of embedded healing phonics. A Whaledreaming Woman she sings the ancient Whale songlines of her ancestry and calls to the frequencies of Blending intuitive melodies made of wood, bone, clay and stone she weaves the sonic bridge between worlds.

She is an elemental voice of water and board member of Oceanic Global. As keynote speaker for World Oceans day at United Nations Headquarters in New York City 2023, WHAIA’s Sacred Sonics open your heart in effortless ways taking you on a journey through realms yet to be discovered.

Riding these waves on her new creation ‘The Mana Waka’, is a 40ft bus/travelling production studio on wheels carrying a ‘Living Canvas’ mural, connecting culture and creation stories sharing educational projects for all. Moving across the country serving communities through arts, music festivals, venues and events.

Her open basket ‘Sonic Weaver Sound Sanctuary’ is a teaching platform including Whale retreats and sound wisdoms in Australia. As a mother of 3 her sights are on the future change makers and reaching out to everyday people and uplifting the human spirit through the inspirational and ordinary.

With a depth of ochre in her skin and mana in her bones, Whaia is a true warrior woman with a soft yet powerful delivery, entwining one’s heart, body and spirit.
